Lithuania makes significant progress in gender equality
November 10, 2007

VILNIUS, Nov 10 (LETA) - The World Economic Forum has published the Gender Gap Index 2007. The annually published index assesses countries according to their gender gap indicators in four critical areas, such as economic and political participation, access to education and access to healthcare.

According to 2007 Gender Gap Index, Lithuania made the biggest progress among the top 20 countries, gaining seven places to become 14th, as the Lithuanian government announced. The Global Gender Gap Report covers 128 countries, representing over 90 percent of the world’s population. Nordic countries - Sweden, Norway, Finland and Island top the gender equality rankings.
